Tommy Shaw Says He Spends More on Bird Seed Than He Did On Drugs

The band had some nervous moments before telling their record label about the concept record inspired by a starling. Despite initial concerns, the label showed enthusiasm for the project, with the band feeling fortunate that things went their way.

The Sex Pistols Play A Secret London Show As "The Spots"

The Sex Pistols are still flipping the bird at anyone and everyone. Last week it was announced that the legendary London venue the 100 Club would be featuring a performance from the Spots, and hardcore fans of the Pistols knew what that really meant. "Spots" is an acronym famously used by the punk legends to play under-the-radar gigs that stood for "Sex Pistols On Tour Secretly." So when the "unknown band" took the stage, the house was packed. Frank Carter and Paul Cook, Glen Matlock and Steve Jones (Johnny Rotten is estranged from the band and is sitting this one out) performed the band's iconic "Never Mind The Bollocks, Here's The Sex Pistols" album in its entirety as they ready for their first official performance at Royal Albert Hall tonight.

ELTON JOHN: Play in a Club, Not on TV!

Elton John thinks that televised singing competitions have had a bad impact on musicans just starting out. He told Rolling Stone U.K. that the best training musicians can get is "just keep trying to play live. That’s the way you improve as a musician and songwriter. It doesn’t matter if you’re playing to 40 people. The more experience you get playing to nobody, the better. Because when I played in Musicology, we played to hardly anybody sometimes. "That experience stood me in great stead for when I became Elton John because I had backbone. And backbone is so important, because the worst thing that can happen to you in the industry are things like X Factor and instant fame on television where you have no experience of playing live. You get put on stage, you go, and you can’t do it. That’s the worst thing. American Idol -- just the worst. Take risks. Go and play in a pub.”

JOHN CAFFERTY: Returns After Almost Four Decades

John Cafferty and the Beaver Brown Band are returning with their first studio album in 36 years. Cafferty's last album of original material was the Eddie and the Cruisers 2: Eddie Lives Soundtrack in 1989. There's a live video for one of the album tracks, "Day in the Sun," on YouTube now. Cafferty and the Beaver Brown Band will open some shows on Rick Springfield's I Want My '80s tour starting May 29th in St. Augustine, Florida.
