Cody and I are going to Eagle Rock Camp Sunday October 27th!

Hello fellow Carolina Riders! Cody and I have been on a whirlwind of a summer with an appearance in Chicago to hang with the cast of Chicago Fire to help raise awareness of the use of Service Dogs for Warriors who have been diagnosed with PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) and TBI (Traumatic Brain Injury,) with the help of K9’s For Warriors and Wendy Diamond. That was very exciting for the both of us.

Cody and I also had the honor to meet Dave Barr who, like many of you, is a Veteran. However he is also a Guinness Book World Record Holder for riding his motorcycle around the world. One more thing, he is also a double leg amputee as well. I was lucky enough to meet David and learn about the Patriot Express tour through Beth Fairchild co-owner of Lucky Street Tattoos in New Bern, NC at the Rockingham Smoke Out while hanging out at The Carolina Rider Bus. Thank You to The Carolina Rider for the meet!

It has been a busy summer for Cody and I and it will not stop coming this fall. I have the Honor to introduce to our readers a new adventure out there for either you if you are active duty, retired or a Veteran or if you know somebody that served this great country. This great organization was brought to my attention by a fellow Veteran and rider Scott Cole who rides with US Veterans MC NC State. Its called Eagle Rock Camp. What is Eagle Rock Camp, you ask? When talking to Lynn Miller, the Founder and Camp Director, I was overwhelmed by her selfless acts of kindness and service to our men and women in uniform as well as the families.

As a Veteran of two wars myself, I have seen a lot of organizations geared toward taking care of the Veteran. However, at Eagle Rock Camp they want to take care of the whole family by hosting six-day retreats in a traditional camp environment that utilizes a proven therapeutic model of Diversion Therapy. This means a lot to a Veteran, to have your family included, your spouse, your children or your caregiver. Its helps with the process of reintegrating back into society if your family can better understand where you are coming from and what you have been through.

Now, what does this all have to do with motorcycles, you may ask? Eagle Rock Camp is hosting its 1st Motorcycle Rally to support the reconnection of wounded warriors and their families coming up this Sunday, Oct 27. The Ride To Reconnect will start at The Blue Ridge Harley Davidson in Hickory, NC with registration from noon till 12:45pm, kickstands up at 1:00pm with a 2:30pm arrival at YMCA Camp Harrison in Boomer, NC. Kickstands headed for home at 5:30pm. There will be a great cookout, a zip line, hiking, wagon rides, 50/50 raffle, LIVE BAND and Much More. The cost to ride is only $20 per Rider and $10 per passenger. For more information, I strongly encourage you to check out the flyer and website.

I am asking all of you to come on out Sunday October 27th and support this amazing cause and when you are they’re come over and say hi to Cody and I. We would love to meet all the readers and take a picture with you. Cody just got a new trim so he’s ready to show it off to all his friends.

Eagle Rock Camp is a non-profit, faith-based sports camp where “wounded warriors” and their families reconnect. In the Camp’s secluded setting, free of the daily distractions and associated stresses of busy lives and electronics, warriors with both invisible and physical wounds, along with their families, enjoy learning new sports skills (and relearning others) in a traditional camp environment.

Keep Riding, and we hope to see you on the road!
