Some never caught on that Sam Kinison was an evangelist preacher before turning to comedy after the breakup of his marriage.  He said he wasn't good as a minister because he wasn't good at asking for money, but he was good at stirring up an audience and making them laugh; so if he could make a church laugh, he could surely make other people laugh...and he did.  The pieces I loved of Sam were when he was telling us his truth.  What he did on stage was a filtered version of his perception of life based on his own existence and his anger of being forced into this world as it is.  His ability to emote not his own anger but what a lot of people think in the darkest corners of their mind is what drew people to him.  The early piece above, is probably some of the most profound stuff I've ever heard come out of him, and I want more.  -Morgen
