Carolina Panthers Agree To Trade For Baker Mayfield

The Carolina Panthers are trading for Cleveland Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield, the team confirmed on social media Wednesday. 

The former number one NFL draft pick is heading to Carolina, pending a physical, after Cleveland acquired quarterback Deshaun Watson during the NFL offseason.

The NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport first reported that the Panthers are sending a 2024 conditional 5th-round draft pick to the Browns. The deal is pending a physical.

REPORT: The Browns will pay Baker Mayfield $10.5 million this season. This means they trimmed over $8 million in cash and salary-cap space. The Carolina Panthers will pay Baker Mayfield around $5 million. Mayfield agreed to trim approx. $3.5 million off his base salary.
