The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Class of 2019

With Tuesday's announcement of the list of nominees for induction at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, fan balloting has begun at www.rockhall.com

Fans can select 5 nominees, once a day until 11:59 pm EST on Sunday December 9th, when fan balloting closes, they put the results in a shredder, and pick whoever they want. Kidding, but fan votes are only part of the equation, also voting are rock and roll scholars, journalists, record company weasels, and of course actual musicians who've already been inducted.

Interestingly the two of this year's nominees KZOK plays the most sit atop this list of the vote tally so far:

  • Stevie Nicks (as a solo artist, he's already in with Fleetwood Mac)
  • Def Leppard
  • The Cure
  • Todd Rundgren
  • The Zombies
  • Radiohead
  • Janet Jackson
  • Rage Against The Machine
  • Devo
  • Roxy Music
  • LL Cool J
  • John Prine
  • Kraftwerk
  • Rufus Featuring Chaka Khan
  • The MC5

Seems everyone has an opinion on every year's group of inductees, so KZOK's Scott Vanderpool reached out to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's director of education John Goerhke for some explanation of the process. We did not get into the "Snub List" of artists, many of whom should have been in years ago, and sadly now includes Seattle's own Soundgarden for the second year since Chris Cornell left us.
