Over the past year, members of Metallica have mentioned plans to start work on a new album.  Guitarist Kirk Hammett told Rolling Stone that the band was planning on starting the process last Fall.  Earlier in April, he said Metallica hoped to release a new album in 2014.

Drummer Lars Ulrich has agreed with Hammett.  Last Fall, Ulrich said the band was about ready to concentrate on recording a new album.

Now, Lars has changed his tune.

Speaking to South Africa's News24, Ulrich revealed that it's going to be a little while before Metallica released a new album.  Lars explains:

“It would surprise me if the next full-length Metallica record would come out before 2015.  It takes us awhile to make records, and we’re also so busy with so many other things. But we’ll get around to it eventually.”

So, stay patient Metallica fans and enjoy the IMAX.
